Getting started

The fastest way to get value out of Tazart is to add three plants you actually own and let Dr. Afrao set up reminders for them. Open the app, tap +, and either snap a photo of each plant for instant identification or pick from the catalog. From there, Tazart learns the light in your home over the first week and tunes your watering schedule automatically.

If you already track plants in another app, use Import collection from the + menu — Tazart accepts Planta backup files, PictureThis exports, Greg screenshots, and free-form text lists. Dr. Afrao parses each entry and rebuilds the care profile inside Tazart.

Subscription & billing

Tazart Pro is $2.99/month (USD). Pricing in other currencies follows Apple's regional tier and is shown at the moment of purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled in iPhone Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions; cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period.

Refunds are issued by Apple, not Tazart. To request one, visit reportaproblem.apple.com within 90 days of purchase. We're happy to advocate on your behalf if Apple denies a request that we think is legitimate — just write us.

Account & data

Tazart uses Sign in with Apple for identity, so there's no separate Tazart account to manage. Tazart Pro unlocks a full data export from Profile → Export data. To stop using Tazart entirely, revoke access in iPhone Settings → [your name] → Sign-In & Security → Apps Using Apple ID → Tazart → Stop using Apple ID, then delete the app to clear local data. See our privacy policy for the full picture.

Subscriptions live with Apple, not us, so revoking access does not cancel an active Pro plan. Cancel in iPhone Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions first if you want both gone.

Troubleshooting

Common iPhone issues and the fixes that work in 30 seconds or less.

Reminders aren't firing on my iPhone
Open the iPhone Settings → Notifications → Tazart and confirm Notifications, Sounds, and Badges are all turned on. Inside Tazart, tap your profile and check that Daily reminders is enabled. If you have Focus modes set up, add Tazart to the allow-list for Personal, Work, and Sleep Focus so reminders aren't silenced overnight.
Plant identifier returns the wrong species
For best results, take the photo in daylight, fill the frame with one or two leaves, and avoid backlit shots. If the result is still off, tap "Not this one" on the result screen — Dr. Afrao will offer the next two most likely species and let you confirm. Reporting a wrong ID also helps us improve the model for everyone.
The light meter reads 0 lux indoors
The light meter uses the rear camera and the iPhone's ambient light sensor. Make sure the lens isn't covered by a case, point the phone at the brightest source the plant sees, and hold steady for 2 seconds. Very dim corners can legitimately read under 50 lux — that's a sign the spot isn't suitable for most houseplants, not a bug.
Restoring purchases on a new iPhone
Sign in to your iPhone with the same Apple ID you used to subscribe, install Tazart, open the app, tap your profile, and choose Restore purchases. Your Pro status returns within a few seconds. If it doesn't, force-quit Tazart and reopen — the StoreKit handshake completes on launch.
Importing from Planta, Greg, or PictureThis
Open Tazart, tap the + button, choose Import collection, then either pick a screenshot from Photos, drop a Planta backup file, or paste a list. Dr. Afrao parses your previous app's export and pre-fills each plant with its full Tazart care profile.

Frequently asked

Is Tazart really free?
Yes — Tazart is free to download and use. The plant identifier, watering reminders, plant doctor, light meter, and the full plant catalog are all free for everyone. The free tier has limits on how many plants you can add and how often you can chat with Dr. Afrao. Tazart Pro ($2.99/month) lifts those limits and unlocks full data export.
What happens to my plants if I cancel Pro?
Nothing — your plants, photos, journal entries, and care history all stay. The free tier limits how many new plants you can add going forward, but everything you've already saved remains readable. Re-subscribe any time to lift the limit again.
How do I delete my account?
Tazart uses Sign in with Apple, so there's no separate account to delete. Open iPhone Settings → [your name] → Sign-In & Security → Apps Using Apple ID → Tazart → Stop using Apple ID to revoke access. Then delete the Tazart app from your home screen to clear local data, and empty its iCloud entry under iPhone Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → Tazart. Subscriptions are managed by Apple, so cancel separately in iPhone Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions if you have an active Pro plan.
Where is my data stored?
Your plant collection lives on your iPhone and syncs across your own Apple devices through iCloud Key-Value Store — Apple holds it under your iCloud account, not on a server we operate. Plant photos stay local to the device. Plant identifier and Dr. Afrao requests pass through a Cloudflare Worker we run, which forwards them to OpenAI; the Worker doesn't log message bodies or images. See our privacy policy for the full map.
Does Tazart work without an account?
You can browse the catalog and use the plant identifier once or twice without an account, but reminders, your collection, and Dr. Afrao history all require sign-in so we can sync to your iCloud or restore on a new device. Sign-in is free.
Is Tazart available on Android?
Not yet — Tazart is iOS-only at launch (iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch). An Android version is on our roadmap; sign up at the bottom of the home page to be notified when it's ready.
